Lovin’ This Lens!

Tuesday, June 28th, 2011

Lately I’ve been drooling over the 135mm f/2.0 L lens and today I was able to get my hands on one to play with. I will try to get some more shots with it tomorrow but so far I was able to take a few of the kiddos in the front yard and I’m already totally convinced I gotta have it! This lens is super sweet!

The kids LOVE this swing!

I can’t believe how big my Maddie Pants is getting!!!

I have no idea what he was pointing at but apparently it was serious! No smile for him!

That’s better :-)

Snow Day!

Friday, January 21st, 2011

Today was the first real snow we’ve had this season and the kiddos all got to stay home from school (technically yesterday, since it’s after midnight as I’m posting this). I waited until the sun was down enough to not blare them in the faces and then bundled them up and went out for a few. Lily spent the entire time picking the snow up and eating it while Trent ran around, made a snow angel and kept trying to get Lily to have a snowball fight (she couldn’t have cared any less about anything other than eating the snow though!)

I’ve been playing with some different editing colors, so let me know what you think about these. Sometimes I have a hard time straying from “normal” colors, but I’ve been trying to edit outside of my usual box lately. These aren’t too dramatic, but a little different for me :-)

*EDIT: Looking at them on the black blog, they actually don’t look much different at all. When looking at them on white though, you can see the yellow tint.

I seem to get more closed-eyes shots than open sometimes!

He was so excited to make the snow angel!

She was showing me her snow bites :-)

Sooooooo Trent!

… and again!

She actually had the funniest chunk of snow on her face and right when I got the shot it fell. Oh well.

On her way in, of course she fell and got snow all over her :-p

First Taste Of Spring!

Tuesday, March 9th, 2010

Man I’ve been busy!  Between taking photos, editing photos, building a website for the company my husband works for and helping plan my upcoming baby shower, I’ve constantly been playing catch up!

A little over a week ago we had a VERY nice day and the first taste of spring! My husband and I decided to drive around to a couple of places and take pictures of Trent, who was all about it that day because we got to take his skateboard too (he got it for Christmas and has been dying for the weather to get warmer so he can ride it outside!)

Here are a few pics from our outing that day…

It's The Small Things

This last picture is my favorite and it makes me want to be young again and filled with wonder and amazement. What’s interesting here is the entirely different lives that were all being lived at this one moment. I was behind the camera trying to get a good shot. Harley was trying to hold Trent’s hand to make sure he could walk on the track without falling. And Trent… Trent was somewhere entirely different. Somewhere magical.

He may be a little too young to remember this specific time later in life, but it’s definitely times like this that stick with kids. One of the best parts about being a photographer is looking at what the scene really meant after capturing it and taking it home. This is definitely one of those times.

Maybe, hopefully, I captured a magical moment.
